It is January and I have crawled back on my treadmill, promising myself to lose that weight and get in shape. The problem is those Christmas cookies in the freezer – they keep calling my name…and I wouldn’t want to waste them….
If you read the Reader Board out front you know the recipe this month is Cream of Anything Soup.
This is a basic recipe to make a creamy vegetable soup. And the creamy can be milk or any other “nut milk”.
The picture is broccoli soup, but I have also made tomato and cauliflower soup. You can also make leftover/garbage soup, that is make it with all the wilted and orphaned veggies in your fridge.
The key to freezing this soup is not to add the milk before you freeze it – that just curdles the soup. Add the milk after you have thawed and heated it and just before you eat it.
See you at Scoop N’ Weigh: The Candy Store for Grown Ups who definitely should not be looking at candy!
P.S. From January 14 to 26 is the Puzzle Sale. All puzzles are 20% off.
P.P.S. There are two new chocolate treats: Chocolate Peanut Butter Malt Balls and Peanut Butter Pretzel Balls. Both are really good, but you didn’t hear that from me, see the salutation above! I like the Chocolate Pretzel Balls the best, they are sort of like Chocolate Peanuts, a salty crunch inside that is not too sweet.
P.P.P.S. Once again we are looking for Part Time Temporary Help. Someone to work cash and help out around the store for two to three shifts a week. There are no late nights, we close at 6, no Sundays and the occasional Saturday – after all, that is what kids are for. If you know someone interested, let us know. Phone first to make sure I am here.
